What’s the 28th Amendment and who’s behind this Conference?

This is American Promise’s third National Citizen Leadership Conference (NCLC). American Promise is a national, cross-partisan, non-profit organization bringing all Americans together to win an amendment to the United States Constitution so that we the people, rather than concentrated money and special interests, govern America. When is NCLC?

NCLC is a two day conference plus Citizen Lobby Day. The conference opens October 19th at 12:30 pm with a networking session Saturday afternoon followed by a main stage kickoff at 1:30 pm, breakout sessions and dinner for conference participants at the Hilton Crystal City hotel. Sunday October 20th, we have a full day of conference programming including breakfast, main stage plenaries, lunch, and breakout sessions with formal programming ending at 5:30pm. Enjoy dinner out, not included in registration, Sunday night with fellow citizen leaders from your state, Citizen Lobby Day group or new friends.

Monday, we head to Capitol Hill for Citizen Lobby Day for pictures on Capitol hill at 8:00 am. Those who opt to participate in Monday’s Citizen Lobby Day on the Hill on October 21st can leave after their individual meetings but are encouraged to attend our wrap up session from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. What meals are included with NCLC registration?

Your NCLC registration includes Saturday (Oct 19th) dinner and Sunday (Oct 20th) breakfast and lunch at the Hilton Crystal City.

If you stay until Monday, you will have an incredible opportunity to put your inspiration, training and determination to work meeting with members of Congress. How will I get to Citizen Lobby Day?

We will meet at the hotel on Monday morning and travel as a group together via Metro to the steps of the Capitol for a photo before our Citizen Lobby Day meetings.

If you prefer not to travel with the group you can meet us at the steps of the Capitol at 8:00 am for our group picture.



Where is NCLC taking place?

The Conference programming begins on Saturday afternoon and runs all day Sunday. The conference will take place at the Hilton Crystal City in Arlington with most activities being held on the Plaza Level of hotel.  Citizen Lobby Day takes place on Monday the 21st on Capitol Hill.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes. There is an NCLC registration fee for an Individual Registration (includes Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch and Citizen Lobby Day). We offer a scholarship program students and youth can apply to for attending NCLC for free. We also have Organization Registration that includes an Organization Table at our conference, 3 Individual Registrations, logo on website and more. Register here.

Where can I stay during the conference?

Please book your room at the Hilton Crystal City, where our Oct 19th and 20th Conference takes place. Stay and be where all the action is plus booking your room at our Conference Hotel plus staying at the Hilton Crystal City supports our Conference and keeps our registration fee low. Is my Conference fee transferable?

In unforeseen circumstances, please contact us at NCLC@americanpromise.net.

Is there a cancellation deadline for the NCLC?

Refunds will not be issued after August 1st, except in special circumstances. Please let us know ASAP at NCLC@americanpromise.net if you cannot attend so we can open your place for someone else!

How accessible are the facilities?

The Conference will take place at the Hilton Crystal City in Alexandria, Virginia. You can find details on building accessibility on their website. Our panels and workshops will have flexible seating.

Is there a lost and found?

Lost and found is at the registration table. Come see us and if we don’t have what you’re looking for, we can take your contact details in case it shows up at a later date.



How do I get to the Hilton Crystal City?

The hotel is located approximately one mile from Reagan National Airport. There is a complimentary shuttle provided by the Hotel. For directions from other airports and driving directions, visit the hotel’s website.

How do I arrive by air?

The closest major airport to Hilton Crystal City is Reagan National Airport (DCA) just one mile, five minutes driving from the hotel. Washington Dulles International Airport  (IAD) is 30 miles, about 45 minutes driving. Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) is 36 miles, about a 60 minute drive.

How do I get around Washington D.C. while I’m there?

The hotel is short walk from the Crystal City Metro Station, with Yellow and Blue line connections into the Capitol (Capitol South and L’Enfant Plaza Stations). Check out this DC Metro Trip Planner for additional information or use google maps and click the train for travel planning.
